Quick Summary, David Kim (John Cho) and Margot (Michelle La) are dealing with the death of their late wife/mother. David thinks that all is well, until one night when Margot is at a study group. She tells David that they were going to be studying all night, but when she does not show up to class the next day and David had 3 missed calls from her in the middle of the night, he starts to worry. One thing lead to another and he breaks into his daughters laptop to figure out where she is. This leads him down a path he does not want to go.

I thought the execution of Searching was very well done. The way it is all told from a computer screen with clips from news casts, photos, face times, and other tools is really good. For instance, the beginning is Margot uploading photos and videos from her childhood to young adulthood. It makes you have some sort of connection for this girl within about 10 minutes of the film. It also does a great job of holding you in suspense and making you want to know what happens next. I have a pretty shit attention span, but Searching held my attention from start to finish.

John Cho does a fantastic job as David, a father who is worried about his daughter and wants to find her. The way its plants little hints about Margot that pop up later in the film are executed very well. Some of those hints end up being nothing, but some end up being much more than you thought. Aneesh Chagatany does an outstanding job for his directorial debut. Like I said earlier he holds the attention of the audience in the palm of his hand. He also tells a story from a computer screen far better than anyone else, without a doubt. I am looking forward to what Aneesh has up his sleeve next.

In conclusion I think Searching is an excellent suspense/thriller and everyone, from the director to the actors, knock it out of the park. I would recommend renting or even buying this movie. It has plenty of re-watchablity (is that even a word? oh well, it is now.) to it. See this movie as soon as you can if you have not yet.
